Science of The Breath

Science of The Body

Your breath is your most powerful resource, giving you life in every moment.

Most are unconscious of breathing in day to day tasks. The potential medicine conscious breathing provides our bodies is endless. When we can learn to direct our breath into particular areas of the body, we can experience a wide array of healing, emotional release, and self soothing modalities.

The breath is directly working with our nervous system. Generating sensations of safety, ease, and steadiness or evoking fear, anxiety, and discomfort.

Through practice we can train our lungs to take in sufficient oxygen that is cycled throughout the body using a 3-part breathing technique.

It is here we can meet ourselves in a sense of calm in a moment of distress.

Your body is the storehouse for your entire experience.

If our bodies are not properly taken care of, the quality of our lives most likely will fall short of our expectations. Yoga teaches us to be aware of our bodies, but not to obsess over them. The body is simply a tool, a vessel, which enables us to move through our lives. The body is the keeper of experiences and emotions that can easily become stagnant or repressed when not mindfully dealt with. Movement of the body, linked with breath, brings conscious awareness to our current circumstances. This practice gives us a depth of understanding and a supported, intimate place to express, release, explore, and heal ones self.

Each yoga posture opens different doorways to gaze into our inner world and remain present while doing so. Eventually, making contact with the lost parts of ourselves and feeling unified and whole.
